The Social Justice Cell functions under the auspices of Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala. It is a volunteer student-led organisation committed to promoting social justice principles and practices within the college and the broader community. We believe in fostering an environment of inclusivity, equity, and respect for all.
The primary objectives are to:
- Raise Awareness: The Club organises a range of activities, including workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns, to educate students and staff on a variety of social justice issues. These may include but are not limited to discussions around inequality, discrimination, and human rights.
- Facilitate Dialogue: Encourage open and respectful discourse on sensitive topics, promoting empathy, understanding, and critical thinking.
- Empower Advocacy: Equip students with the skills and resources to advocate for positive change through campaigns, community outreach, and collaborations with relevant organisations.
- Build Community: Foster a supportive and inclusive community for individuals passionate about social justice, providing opportunities for networking and collaboration.
To achieve our objectives, the Social Justice Club undertakes a variety of activities and initiatives, including:
- Awareness Campaigns: Designing and implementing impactful campaigns on diverse social justice themes, utilizing various media channels to reach a wide audience.
- Workshops and Seminars: Organising informative sessions led by subject matter experts, focusing on topics such as gender equality, caste-based discrimination, environmental justice, and disability rights.
- Film Screenings and Discussions: Facilitating screenings of thought-provoking films followed by structured discussions to explore complex social issues and encourage critical engagement.
- Community Outreach: Partnering with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community groups to address social problems at the grassroots level.
- Fundraising Activities: Organising events and initiatives to raise funds for social justice projects and support charitable causes aligned with our mission.
