Since its inception in 2001, the Department of English at St. Aloysius College, Edathua, has evolved into a dynamic hub of intellectual curiosity, literary exploration, and communicative excellence. The B.A. Honours in English programme offers a unique interdisciplinary approach, integrating the study of language and literature with Media Studies and Film Studies. The curriculum is student-centered, engaging, and future-focused, preparing learners for careers in education, content creation, media and journalism, public relations, and creative industries.

Community Outreach & Social Impact
Through the Rural English Literacy Programme (RELP), the department extends its expertise to neighbouring communities at the local Panchayat level and underprivileged learners of the rural Kuttanad, promoting inclusive education and language empowerment.
English Association & Aloysian English Club Activities
Under the leadership of a team of young, vibrant faculty members, the English Association of the department hosts Rhapsodia Literaria, an annual All-Kerala literary festival for Schools and Colleges. Fortnightly or monthly activities are conducted through the Aloysian English Club under the initiative of the energetic student community of the department. Debates, creative writing contests, field visits, film screenings, and author sessions enrich student life beyond the classroom. Creative Corner is a platform designed for our students to express their creativity. Our students have an active engagement in digital media platforms like YouTube, Instagram and Facebook both for learning and entertainment purposes.
